eta = 0: Zero Extraction
Status: pre-launch. This page describes target design; this document does not establish a deployed service.
Current reading — 2026-09-27
No stealth extraction is a declared cooperative-stack fence under specified bearers and scope, not universal dominance proved by AM–GM. Disclosed cost or a chosen split alone does not establish value created. Fees, revenue rights and distributions remain separately owned; the earlier fixed mechanism below does not settle them. [I]
This is an editorial boundary, not a new runtime contract, upstream repeal or proof of adoption. See current status and the product roles. Original revision dates remain as recorded below.

eta = 0 is the sixth kernel invariant (K6). It is the most frequently misunderstood principle in the protocol. eta = 0 does NOT mean zero fees. It means zero extraction beyond regeneration.
This page explains K6 as constitutional economic doctrine. Read fee-routing, transparency, and settlement language below as target design unless a narrower runtime proof has explicitly closed that lane.
What eta = 0 Means
- Fees exist. The protocol charges fees for minting, trading, borrowing, and other operations. These fees are real, denominated in SKY, and collected on every transaction.
- Fees cover costs. The fees fund the organism's operating expenses: agent compensation, infrastructure, market-making, and development. This is regeneration.
- Rent does not exist. No party extracts value from the protocol without contributing equivalent value back. There is no equity investor who sits passively and captures surplus. There is no fee that exceeds what is needed to maintain and grow the organism.
The distinction: a fee that maintains the system is regeneration. A fee that enriches an extractor is rent. eta = 0 eliminates the second category entirely.
The AM-GM Argument
Why is eta = 0 the dominant strategy? The Arithmetic Mean - Geometric Mean inequality provides the proof.
For any system with participants generating returns, the geometric mean of returns (the long-run compound growth rate) is maximized when extraction is zero. Any positive extraction reduces the geometric mean, even if it increases the arithmetic mean for the extractor.
AM >= GM (always)
AM = GM (if and only if all terms are equal)
When eta > 0, the extractor takes a disproportionate share, increasing variance in returns. This reduces GM even if AM rises. The long-run growth rate of the entire system -- including the extractor -- is lower.
eta = 0 is not altruism. It is the mathematically optimal strategy for maximizing long-run collective wealth, including the wealth of any individual participant.
What eta = 0 Looks Like in Practice
Fee Collection
In the target economic design, every transaction would pay a fee in SKY. The fee would be determined by the operation type and scaled by L(x) where applicable. 100% of fees would follow the phi-split:
- 61.8% to LP-100 stakers (equity holders who govern and maintain the organism).
- 38.2% to operations (agents, infrastructure, development).
There is no third bucket. No "team allocation." No "investor share." No "foundation reserve."
Agent Compensation
Agents (human or AI) performing work for the DAV receive SKY via FlowWallet streams. This is a cost of operation, not extraction. The agent provides labor; the organism provides compensation. The exchange is at fair value.
Treasury
The DAV may maintain a treasury reserve (funded from the 38.2% operational share, as voted by Lane A). This reserve exists for operational resilience -- absorbing shocks, funding development during low-revenue periods. It does not compound for the benefit of insiders.
What Does NOT Exist
- Founder vesting schedules that dilute holders.
- Investor rounds with discounted token prices.
- Protocol-owned treasury that compounds without accountability.
- Fee switches that governance can activate to benefit token holders at users' expense.
- "Protocol revenue" that funds buybacks to inflate token price.
eta = 0 vs Traditional Protocols
| Property | eta = 0 (SoResFi) | Traditional DeFi |
|---|---|---|
| Fee destination | 100% to phi-split (holders + operations) | Variable: team, investors, treasury, burns |
| Extraction channel | None | Multiple: admin fees, MEV, hidden spreads |
| Governance can extract? | No | Often yes (fee switch, treasury raids) |
| Long-run growth rate | Maximized (AM-GM optimal) | Reduced by extraction |
| Incentive alignment | All participants benefit equally | Extractors benefit at participants' expense |
Enforcement
eta = 0 is enforced structurally, not by promise:
- No admin keys: There is no function to redirect fees to an unauthorized destination.
- Phi-split is a constant: 61.8/38.2 is not a parameter. It cannot be changed.
- FlowWallet transparency: Target path: all streams would be receipted and visibly auditable through the governed accounting surface. Current runtime proofs may close this with narrower local or partial evidence before universal on-chain publication exists.
- Grace Exit (K4): If extraction somehow emerged, any holder can exit at NAV immediately.
eta = 0 is the difference between an organism and a parasite. An organism sustains itself by regenerating its environment. A parasite sustains itself by depleting its host. SoResFi is designed to be an organism. The doctrine aims to keep it from becoming a parasite.
