Current public-DAV authority boundary — 2026-07-12. Pre-launch target design; nothing here proves a live system.
A public-DAV consequence may occur only when at least two natural-person councilors bind the exact consequence in a complete valid bound PRISM decision receipt.
PRISM records and verifies that receipt only; it never serves as council, signatory, authority, or receipt producer.
AI and caste seats stage unsigned proposals only; they never authorize or execute a public-DAV consequence. Constitution or membership adoption establishes constitution and membership only; it does not authorize a later consequence. Policy may constrain an unsigned proposal but never authorizes execution or substitutes for the complete consequence-bound receipt.
Before receipt validity, consequence fails closed to read-only proposal, simulation, or deterministic sandbox; live evidence remains gated_pending_complete_valid_bound_receipt.
Software deterministically carries out only the exact consequence bound to a complete valid bound PRISM decision receipt from at least two natural-person councilors binding that exact consequence.
Perfected Engines
Molecular machines refined over billions of years, translated into protocol components.
Overview
Perfected engines are single-organism molecular machines. They are the oldest biological patterns -- some predate multicellular life by two billion years. Their longevity is their credential: anything that has survived that many extinction events encodes a deep invariant.
Each translation below identifies the biological machine, the engineering problem it solves, and the Skyzai component intended to implement the same invariant. These are protocol translations, not a blanket claim that every mapped component is already live in runtime.
The Eight Engines
1. Bacterial Flagellum --> FlowWallet
Biology: The bacterial flagellum is a rotary motor. A proton gradient drives rotation. The coupling between energy source and mechanical output is direct -- no intermediary, no leakage.
Translation: FlowWallet is designed to couple a typed authority receipt (energy) to state transition (output) with zero intermediary. A Natural Person authorizes their own typed private act; a Legal Person acts through lawful external authority and required executors; and at least two natural-person councilors bind the exact public-DAV consequence in a complete valid bound PRISM decision receipt. PRISM records and verifies only; execution is limited to that exact bound consequence. The motor stalls without fuel. The executor stalls without the applicable receipt. Same invariant.
2. DNA Repair (A7 Proofreading) --> Audit Engine (A7)
Biology: DNA polymerase has a 3'-to-5' exonuclease proofreading function. After every base is added, the enzyme checks it. Mismatches are excised and re-synthesized. Error rate: 1 in 10^9.
Translation: The A7 audit engine is designed to perform post-hoc verification on every state transition. Transactions that violate K-invariants are meant to be rejected or reversed before finality. The protocol does not trust its own writes -- it verifies them.
3. Blood-Brain Barrier --> Nexus Membrane
Biology: The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is formed by tight junctions between endothelial cells, reinforced by astrocyte foot processes. It allows glucose and oxygen through while blocking pathogens and toxins. Selective permeability, not isolation.
Translation: The Nexus membrane sits between external inputs (Nostr relays, API calls, user requests) and the DAV's internal organs. Five Receptors define what passes. Three Gates enforce rate limits. The membrane is not a firewall (which blocks). It is a filter (which selects).
4. Hemoglobin Cooperative Binding --> N-Squared Flywheel
Biology: Hemoglobin exhibits cooperative binding: the first oxygen molecule that binds makes the next three easier to bind. The sigmoid binding curve means the molecule is either nearly empty or nearly full -- no middle ground.
Translation: The N² flywheel governs network effects. The first user on a DAV's SPECTRE mesh makes the next connection marginally easier. Adoption follows a sigmoid curve. Below critical mass, the network is inert. Above it, growth is self-reinforcing. The flywheel IS cooperative binding.
5. Kidney Nephron --> Phi-Split
Biology: The nephron filters blood through glomerular filtration, then selectively reabsorbs useful molecules (glucose, amino acids, water) while excreting waste (urea, creatinine). It does not discard everything -- it discriminates.
Translation: The phi-split routes metabolic surplus. A constitutional fraction goes to operations (reabsorbed). The remainder goes to Distillation or LP-100 holders (excreted from the organism's perspective). The split ratio is set at genesis and enforced by K-invariant. The organism cannot choose to keep everything.
6. SA Node (Cardiac Pacemaker) --> Heartbeat
Biology: The sinoatrial node generates an electrical impulse every ~0.8 seconds without external stimulus. It is the heart's intrinsic pacemaker. If it fails, subsidiary pacemakers take over at slower rates.
Translation: The DAV heartbeat is designed to emit a consensus round every 10 seconds. It requires no external trigger. If the primary heartbeat operator fails, fallback operators activate at degraded frequency. The heartbeat is the organism's proof-of-life pattern. Seven days without a beat is the M1 dissolution design trigger.
7. Spider Silk --> Constitutional Constraints
Biology: Spider silk is stronger than steel by weight and more elastic than nylon. This combination of strength and flexibility comes from its molecular structure: crystalline beta-sheets (rigid) connected by amorphous regions (elastic).
Translation: K-invariants are the crystalline regions: rigid, unyielding, no discretion. Organ configurations are the amorphous regions: flexible, adaptable, evolvable. The constitution is strong because it is rigid where it must be and flexible where it can be. Rigidity without flexibility is brittle. Flexibility without rigidity is chaos.
8. Nautilus Shell --> Archival Integrity + L(x) Growth
Biology: The nautilus grows by adding chambers to its shell. Each chamber is larger than the last by a constant ratio (the golden spiral). The organism never rebuilds old chambers -- it grows forward.
Translation: The DAV's growth trajectory exhibits two canonical properties simultaneously. Append-only state is the archival integrity compound — not a single K-letter, but the chain K0 (every state change emits a receipt) + L6 (each epoch commits tx_root and state_root via Merkle roots) + external anchoring. Deterministic L(x) scaling is K4 of System B (the L(x) = x/(1−x) liquidation function, governing how capacity compounds). The organism cannot shrink to grow — it can only grow by accretion.
(Earlier drafts of this section attributed append-only growth to a nonexistent "K3 Logarithmic Growth" invariant. Phi-split is SPLIT.PHI (legacy bare K3 retired 2026-08-03); the property described here is the K0+L6+anchoring / OUT.ARCHIVE compound. See K3_SEMANTIC_RESOLUTION_2026_04_20.md (historical) + 00_HANDOFF/SPLIT_PHI_K3_LETTER_RETIREMENT_2026_08_03.md.)
Common Invariant
All eight engines share one property: the coupling between input and output is direct, verifiable, and has no discretionary intermediary. Protons drive the flagellum. Signatures drive the wallet. The same invariant, expressed in different substrates.

K3 public-DAV authority history — 2026-07-12
K3 historical reference — not active authority
Current public-DAV boundary — 2026-07-10. Pre-launch target design; nothing here is live. The active DAV is public and targets PRISM, with no K2 runtime, launch, genesis/bootstrap, or fallback dependency. Consequential authority requires at least two natural-person councilors; AI/caste seats stage unsigned proposals only. Before quorum, behavior fails closed to read-only/proposal, simulation, or deterministic sandbox, and a live decision receipt remains gated pending quorum.
Translation: FlowWallet is designed to couple a typed authority receipt (energy) to state transition (output) with zero intermediary. A private Natural Person supplies their own signature; public-DAV consequence requires a valid decision receipt from at least two natural-person PRISM councilors. The motor stalls without fuel. The executor stalls without the applicable receipt. Same invariant.
